Did that statement just made you raise a brow? Then please hear me out:
As humans we sometimes only want to focus on the emotions that make us feel good, like joy and excitement, while we try to avoid the emotions that make us feel bad, such as anger or grief. But the thing is, just because an emotion makes you feel positively or negatively, doesn’t automatically make them “good” or “bad”.
Every emotion has a purpose, it signals something. It may tell you that something matters to you, or when something significant has been lost or when someone has crossed a line with you.
Of course it’s not pleasant to feel the loss of something or someone that was important to you, but what's the alternative?
Grief, sadness: they may not feel nice, but they are an indication of your love – the love you hold for others and the love you hold for yourself.
And that’s a pretty beautiful thing, is it not?
‘A Treasure Box Of Feelings’ invites you to think about the emotions you have experienced in your life, especially the ones you’ve labeled as ‘bad’ or have tried to push away, and ask yourself: Is there a different way to see these emotions? What are they telling me? What can I learn from them? How can I hold more compassion for myself as I feel what I need to feel?
It's the range of emotions that we experience that makes us so beautifully human and that encourages us to grow, to learn and, perhaps most importantly, to connect.
The inspiration behind the painting:
I don't believe everything happens for a reason, but I do believe that you can learn from every situation. Being sick changes who you are. I have felt a lot of sadness about that. And to be honest, I still do. I used to think that was a bad thing, but I have come to learn that it indicates a lot of self compassion, which isn't bad at all!
I still don't like feeling sad, or frustrated or angry, but my endometriosis has taught me that you can't always put a positive spin on everything. Some things just suck. And if you allow yourself to be in that and know that you will not always be in it, the heaviness will lift - way faster than when you try to push away.
The more space you can give yourself to feel the sadness and anger, the more space you will create - later on - for relief.
An original mixed media painting 80 x 100 cm, acrylic paint, oil pastels, pencil.
The painting has been built, layer by layer, mark by mark, until a beautifully, balanced work of art emerged – deep and complex.

Shipping
All original artwork is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity and then wrapped in multiple layers of acid-free packaging, padded and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box or flat mailer.
All art prints are wrapped in protective packaging and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy tube or mailer.
The majority of artwork will be shipped via PostNL. Most domestic packages arrive within 3-5 business days from the time of shipment.
All shipments include tracking and you can choose to have it shipped with insurance. I ALWAYS recommend shipping with insurance, because sometimes life happens!
I love shipping art globally! Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and distance. Large paintings that are shipped internationally may have to be unstretched and shipped in a tube due to a) safety reasons and b) shipping companies' regulations regarding the maximum size of a package. You can get your painting restretched of course and I'm happy to advise you on that!
International buyers, please note that border fees, handling fees, etc. may be charged based on the destination country. Please contact me via the contact form on the website or email me at BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com with questions or to receive a shipping estimate. -
Returns
Every order, commission and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible. My goal is for you to be delighted with your purchase! I typically try to stay in contact throughout the process of shipping and handling in order to maintain full transparency and ensure you are completely informed along the way.
Please take time to read descriptions carefully and to check the colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors, textures and tones in my work clearly and realistically.
All sales are final. But of course, sometimes life happens. Please email BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com if there is an issue with your artwork.
If you are concerned about your package getting lost or damaged during delivery you can choose to have it shipped with insurance (I do recommend this. Especially with original paintings and/ or international shipments).
I am not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service and I am not liable for any damage incurred post-delivery. I take great care to package each order safely in sturdy materials with ample support and notice that the package should be handled with care.
