In the world we live in, it seems as if there’s always something you should have done or have accomplished by a certain age or time. And if you don’t, there’s this fear that creeps in that you are unaccomplished or that ‘now it’s too late!’
But what if you create your own unique journey? What if you go at your own pace?
‘Color Outisde the Lines’ invites you to let go of imposed expectations that do not serve you. There is no need to accomplish certain things by a certain age and it is definitely not true that you have ‘missed the window of opportunity’. You are never ‘too old’ and it’s never ‘too late’ to pursue what brings you joy.
You are on your own path. Go at your own pace. Create your own experiences.
It sounds so simple, but sometimes we can forget: you are the one living your life. Don't let anybody rush you.
The inspiration behind the painting:
Living life with a chronic illness means living life at a very different pace and in a very different way than most of your peers and loved ones. It used to feel like I had fallen behind in terms of certain milestones or accomplishments. And, to be honest, it sometimes still feels that way. My career path looks completely different than that of my friends and siblings. And things that my peers do, such as traveling, starting a family or simply just going to a concert and not having to think about how it will affect their energy levels for the days after is something that I can't easily do. Everything I do has to be considered in terms of: Is it doable? & How will it affect me in the days after?
But for all that my illness has taken from me, I have also come to see that it has enriched me in ways that I could've never anticipated. Because I have to consider how everything I do will affect my health, I have learned to live with intention and according to my values. To set boundaries in a healthy and loving way. To spend my time doing the things I absolutely love & to dedicate my energy to the people that matter most to me.
When I look back at the me of 15 years ago, then I have to admit that she could do a lot more than I can do now.
But I also have to say that the me now lives way more intentionally. And for that: I am grateful and proud.
An original mixed media painting 80 x 90 cm, acrylic paint, oil pastels, pencil.
The painting has been built, layer by layer, mark by mark, until a beautifully, balanced work of art emerged – deep and complex.

Shipping
All original artwork is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity and then wrapped in multiple layers of acid-free packaging, padded and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box or flat mailer.
All art prints are wrapped in protective packaging and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy tube or mailer.
The majority of artwork will be shipped via PostNL. Most domestic packages arrive within 3-5 business days from the time of shipment.
All shipments include tracking and you can choose to have it shipped with insurance. I ALWAYS recommend shipping with insurance, because sometimes life happens!
I love shipping art globally! Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and distance. Large paintings that are shipped internationally may have to be unstretched and shipped in a tube due to a) safety reasons and b) shipping companies' regulations regarding the maximum size of a package. You can get your painting restretched of course and I'm happy to advise you on that!
International buyers, please note that border fees, handling fees, etc. may be charged based on the destination country. Please contact me via the contact form on the website or email me at BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com with questions or to receive a shipping estimate. -
Returns
Every order, commission and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible. My goal is for you to be delighted with your purchase! I typically try to stay in contact throughout the process of shipping and handling in order to maintain full transparency and ensure you are completely informed along the way.
Please take time to read descriptions carefully and to check the colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors, textures and tones in my work clearly and realistically.
All sales are final. But of course, sometimes life happens. Please email BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com if there is an issue with your artwork.
If you are concerned about your package getting lost or damaged during delivery you can choose to have it shipped with insurance (I do recommend this. Especially with original paintings and/ or international shipments).
I am not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service and I am not liable for any damage incurred post-delivery. I take great care to package each order safely in sturdy materials with ample support and notice that the package should be handled with care.
