At first glace this piece may feel like a world of contrast, but if you stay with it, you’ll start to feel the way opposites can sit beside each other — not in conflict, but in conversation.

'ORANGE GOES GOOD WITH BLUE I' takes its name from a playful twist on a line from the musical Wicked — “Pink goes good with green.” It’s a wink to the idea that things that seem like opposites can actually complement and enrich each other in surprising ways.

I painted this in the months after my hysterectomy — a time filled with a lot of grief. Grief for the body I thought I’d have, the experiences I lost to endometriosis and adenomyosis, and the quiet, heavy sadness that came with all of it. But alongside that sadness, something unexpected showed up: moments of lightness, of joy, of sudden laughter - moments where I felt deeply loved and supported. A kind of joy I didn't think could exist in the middle of all that sadness.

So this painting holds both: the blue of sorrow and the orange of joy — layered, tangled, side by side. Not fighting each other, but coexisting. Because sometimes, heartbreak and healing show up in the same breath. And maybe orange really does go good with blue.

An original mixed media painting, 30 x 24 cm canvas, 34 x 28 cm framed, acrylic paint, oil pastels, watercolor pencil. This piece comes framed in a wooden floater frame and is ready to hang. 
The painting has been built, layer by layer, mark by mark, until a beautifully, balanced work of art emerged – deep and complex.

  • Shipping

    All original artwork is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity and then wrapped in multiple layers of acid-free packaging, padded and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box or flat mailer. 

    All art prints are wrapped in protective packaging and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy tube or mailer.

    The majority of artwork will be shipped via PostNL. Most domestic packages arrive within 3-5 business days from the time of shipment. 

    All shipments include tracking and you can choose to have it shipped with insurance. I ALWAYS recommend shipping with insurance, because sometimes life happens!

    I love shipping art globally! Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and distance. Large paintings that are shipped internationally may have to be unstretched and shipped in a tube due to a) safety reasons and b) shipping companies' regulations regarding the maximum size of a package. You can get your painting restretched of course and I'm happy to advise you on that!

  • Returns

    Every order, commission and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible. My goal is for you to be delighted with your purchase! I typically try to stay in contact throughout the process of shipping and handling in order to maintain full transparency and ensure you are completely informed along the way.

    Please take time to read descriptions carefully and to check the colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors, textures and tones in my work clearly and realistically.

    If you are concerned about your package getting lost or damaged during delivery you can choose to have it shipped with insurance (I do recommend this. Especially with original paintings and/ or international shipments).

    I am not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service and I am not liable for any damage incurred post-delivery. I take great care to package each order safely in sturdy materials with ample support and notice that the package should be handled with care.
