A couple years ago I read The Choice by Dr. Edith Eger. Do you know it? Please tell me your thoughts if you've read it!
If you haven’t, I invite you to. It’s one of those books that will leave you forever changed in the most expanding of ways.
The Choice is a memoir that spans Dr. Edith Eger’s imprisonment in a Nazi concentration camp as a young teen to her success as a renowned psychologist into her 90s. Eger talks about her healing journey and her own struggle with perfectionism, which she describes in this way:
“Perfectionism is the belief that something is broken—you. So you dress up your brokenness with degrees, achievements, accolades, pieces of paper, none of which can fix what you think you are fixing.”
HELLO!!!!! Hard relate! How about you?
She continues saying: “In trying to combat my low self-esteem, I was actually reinforcing my sense of unworthiness. In learning to offer my patients total love and acceptance, I fortunately learned the importance of offering the same to myself.”
Heart touched.
Mind blown.
I turned to canvas to encapsulate what it may look like to allow yourself to play, to let loose and see what will unfold. Recovering from perfectionism isn’t a quick fix, but with this piece I’d like to invite you to approach yourself with more compassion:
Let each playful brush stroke inspire you to play a little more yourself. Let the bold colors move you to show up boldly, just the way you are. And may each mark, big or small, move you to make your own.
You may not be perfect (who is anyway?!!) but you have unique qualities that are so valuable. Only you can do do what you do, in the way that you do it.
And that’s 'Special in a way that ‘perfect’ can never be'.
An original mixed media painting, 90 x 70 cm, acrylic paint, spray paint, oil pastels, pencil. The painting has been built, layer by layer, mark by mark, until a beautifully, balanced work of art emerged – deep and complex. This piece is absolutely gorgeous and is a beacon of self acceptance and playfulness.
Thank you for supporting my work. Creating this art and sharing it with collectors around the world is a deep honor.

Shipping
All original artwork is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity and then wrapped in multiple layers of acid-free packaging, padded and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy cardboard box or flat mailer.
All art prints are wrapped in protective packaging and shipped in a well-fitting sturdy tube or mailer.
The majority of artwork will be shipped via PostNL. Most domestic packages arrive within 3-5 business days from the time of shipment.
All shipments include tracking and you can choose to have it shipped with insurance. I ALWAYS recommend shipping with insurance, because sometimes life happens!
I love shipping art globally! Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and distance. Large paintings that are shipped internationally may have to be unstretched and shipped in a tube due to a) safety reasons and b) shipping companies' regulations regarding the maximum size of a package. You can get your painting restretched of course and I'm happy to advise you on that!
International buyers, please note that border fees, handling fees, etc. may be charged based on the destination country. Please contact me via the contact form on the website or email me at BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com with questions or to receive a shipping estimate. -
Returns
Every order, commission and sale is handled with care and as much clarity and transparency as possible. My goal is for you to be delighted with your purchase! I typically try to stay in contact throughout the process of shipping and handling in order to maintain full transparency and ensure you are completely informed along the way.
Please take time to read descriptions carefully and to check the colors on multiple screens if you are concerned about color variations. I try my best to represent the colors, textures and tones in my work clearly and realistically.
All sales are final. But of course, sometimes life happens. Please email BethanyKristineArt@Gmail.com if there is an issue with your artwork.
If you are concerned about your package getting lost or damaged during delivery you can choose to have it shipped with insurance (I do recommend this. Especially with original paintings and/ or international shipments).
I am not liable for any mishandling or failed delivery by the shipping service and I am not liable for any damage incurred post-delivery. I take great care to package each order safely in sturdy materials with ample support and notice that the package should be handled with care.
